PROCEEDINGS

Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings. The proceedings will be available at the beginning of the conference and each registered participant will receive a copy. The proceedings are distributed by the official publisher of the conference: Springer LNCS/AI



Note that at least one author of each selected paper or poster is required to attend the conference to present the work. Papers breaking this rule will not be considered for publication in the conference proceedings.

The proceedings of the conference are available from Springer in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science - Artificial Intelligence series with the reference LNCS/AI 1434.

APPEARANCE AND LENGTH

The final version of the accepted papers will be edited in the format specified in the acceptance letter or email.
More information is available directly from the official publisher pages.

Invited lectures (maximum of 20 pages).

Long papers (between 10 and 12 pages) must report orginal completed research relevant to the themes of the conference.

Short papers (between 4 and 6 pages) must report work in progress.

Each paper include :
- The title of the paper.
- Full names, postal addresses, phone and fax numbers an email addresses of all authors.
- An abstract of 100-200 words.



DISTINGUISHED PAPER AWARDS

The program committee will distinguish papers of exceptional quality for special awards.

The author(s) of the selected papers will be asked to write a chapter for a comprehensive book on the subject of Virtual Worlds in a new series on Complexity. This book will be edited by the conference chairman of Virtual Worlds 98 in partnership with professor Yaneer Bar-Yam, president of the New England Complex Systems Institute.



POLICY ON MULTIPLE SUBMISSIONS

Authors will be required to transfer copyright of their paper. Thus, the conference will not accept for publication any paper which, at the time of the conference and its submission process, is already published in a journal or in a conference proceedings. Authors are also expected not to submit their paper elsewhere during Virtual Worlds's review period.
